Senate Threatens To Issue Arrest Warrants For Lai Mohammed, Others
The Nigerian Senate has threatened to issue a warrant for some ministers failing to honour its invitation
-The Senate said the ministers have failed to honor its invitation to answer audit queries against them
-The lawmakers noted that Lai Mohammed, Timipre Sylva, Saleh Mamman and other heads of agencies have all refused to honor their invitation
The Nigerian Senate has threatened to issue a warrant for the arrest of some ministers who have failed to honor its invitation to answer audit queries against them.
The Senate committee on public accounts on Thursday, June 11, said it would be compelled to issue arrest warrants on the minister information and culture, Lai Mohammed, the minister of state, Petroleum, Timipre Sylva and minister of power Saleh Mamman and other heads of agencies if they do not honor its invitation,
Senator Matthew Urhoghide, the chairman of the committee stated that the others who have refused to honor the invitation include the minister of women affairs and social development, Pauline Tallen, her counterpart in the ministry of solid minerals development, Olamilekan Adegbite and the chairman, National Population Commission (NPC).
He said heads of agencies have cultivated the habit of failing to honor Senate invitations.
