LaLiga: Barcelona president reveals club Messi will retire

Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, has said Lionel Messi will retire at the club in “three or four years”.

Messi has a deal with the Nou Camp side until June 2021 and is yet to sign a contract extension.

The 33-year-old has been linked with a move away from Spain this summer.

Inter Milan are believed to be monitoring his future with Barca and are ready to offer him a bumper deal.

However, Bartomeu does not think Messi will leave.

“It is not just me that says so. Leo has always said it, that he wants to end his professional career at Barcelona.

“I think it’s the club of his life. It’s a man for a club and it’s the best club for him.

“I am certain that the contract extension will happen. I have no doubt that Leo Messi in three, four, many years to come will retire at Barcelona,” Bartomeu told beIN Sports.
