Champions League: Setien gives latest update on Messi’s injury ahead of Bayern clash

Barcelona manager, Quique Setien, has provided the latest update on captain, Lionel Messi’s injury following his side’s Champions League victory over Napoli on Saturday night.

Setien said Messi sustained a “fierce knock” after being kicked in the leg by Kalidou Koulibaly in Barca’s win 3-1 win over Napoli at Camp Nou.

Barcelona secured their place in the Champions League quarter-finals on 4-2 aggregate, having played 1-1 in the first leg back in February.

But Setien expects Messi to make a speedy recovery ahead of their Champions League last-8 clash with Bayern Munich on Friday.

“Lionel took quite a fierce knock in that challenge from Koulibaly,” Setien said at his post-match press conference.

“But I don’t think it’ll become a big problem for him.”

He added: “The game against Bayern will be complicated, but we are also a great team.

“The team has been good, and we deserved the victory against Napoli.”
